Graced by no less than the local Tinseltowns A-listers, business tycoons and Cosmopolitan Manille’s whos who, GAOC marks another milestone with its classiest clinic yet, complete with its trademark technologically-superior services and facilities. This latest branch is supplied with state-of-the-art equipment and top-of-the-line materials and instruments and staffed with first-rate professionals trained to be the best in their respective fields of specialization. Led by former Philippine President and current Manila Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano, award-winning actor John Lloyd Cruz, and St. Lukes Medical Center Global Citys Medical Director Dr. Arturo dela Peña, among dozens of other illustrious personalities – most of whom are already celebrity patients of the renowned dentist of the stars, GAOC founder and president, Dr. Steve Mark Gan – the simple ribbon-cutting ceremony, as well as its subsequent clinic blessing, was jam-packed with colleagues, companions, kith and kin who extended their well-wishes to this young achiever who forever changed the landscape of the Philippine dental industry. His latest branch – the fifth GAOC center in Bonifacio Global City – is but a proud culmination of just a little over fifteen years in the business of making perfect smiles. As one of his closest friends, I am supremely grateful to have followed Dr. Marks skyrocketing career almost from his early years in 1998, when he was still a fresh graduate from his one-year residency in prosthodontics at the University of Southern California and a 10-month Mini-Residency in Prosthodontic Implant Training at the University of California. Despite having been born to a family of renowned physicians, Dr. Marks journey was certainly not a walk-in-the-park. His gradual ascent to the top was akin to Sisyphean proportions. More than a decade ago, nobody bought his idea of specializing in dental implantology – a very expensive practice with almost no demand at that time. He received little support from the dental community. Apart from the fact that he had to borrow money from friends and family just to make ends meet, he faced enormous competition from other practitioners who never believed that dental implant practice will flourish in the Philippines. Through sheer tenacity and hard work, he had to build the entire dental implant market from the ground up, in the face of mounting resistance from patients who were fearful of the procedure and were not used to the enormous costs involved. Today, the GAOC brand is nationally recognized as an uncompromising, world-class dental center in the Philippines that offers state-of-the-art technology in Oral Diagnostic and Surgical Procedures and Dental Implantology. Dr. Mark, on the other hand, has established himself as one of the Philippine Dental Industrys brightest young superstars.
