GE has made billions of dollars in profits, and yet has managed to pay no taxes for years. Republicans want to lower the Corporate Tax Rate, saying that American Corporations pay too high a rate of tax. While that may be true for some corporations, particularly smaller corporations there are lots of mega corporations that pay nothing at all. Democrats should agree to lower the corporate tax rate, but include a provision whereby corporations all must pay a minimum corporate tax rates of say 10-15%. This would effectively lower the corporate tax rate, while increasing revenues by getting corporations to finally pay some money to the Federal Government that have been skating by for years paying nothing.
