GEM Weekly Update: We received a large amount of helpful information in our meeting with Dr. Depcik: a chapter on Vehicle Modeling, Austin Hausmann’s thesis, and his emails with Severin, which better describe the overall problem. Severin will also be able to best describe the distance traveled and the topography of the route. We have a better idea about the process required to finish this project. We should determine the route from Severin, model the forces acting on the vehicle, the torque required, and then derive the energy so that the battery size and power can be concluded. Collaboration with other teams may be done but our group is initializing the work. Python codes have been commenced by Jake in order to simulate the vehicle. More information was found on the vehicle and pictures were taken after the electric car race. Our team took first place with our modestly built car.
