GENERAL KANENE TO REMAIN INSIDE THE Supreme Court has dismissed - TopicsExpress

GENERAL KANENE TO REMAIN INSIDE THE Supreme Court has dismissed the bail application by convicted musician Clifford Dimba also known as General Kenene. Supreme Court Judge Albert Wood in dismissing the application in his ruling in chambers this morning said the convict would not have served a substantial part of his sentence by the time the Supreme Court will hear his main appeal. But Dimbas lawyer Tresford Chali told journalists after the ruling that they will go ahead and work on the appeal for the full bench of Supreme Court judges to determine the bail application for his client. Mr Chali says he respects the decision of the court, stating that it was a route worth taken because the case was before a single judge. He has also refuted media reports suggesting that his client has been on hunger strike while in prison. General Kenene was convicted and sentenced to 18 years imprisonment with hard labour after being found guilty of defiling a 14-year-old girl contrary to the Laws of Zambia.
