GENESEE COUNTY RESIDENTS - MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD! Abuse - TopicsExpress

GENESEE COUNTY RESIDENTS - MAKE YOUR VOICES HEARD! Abuse continues on at Genesee County Animal Control, and Commissioner Pegge Adams continues to cover it up. Pegge Adams was asked about this very same type of abuse back in September, see the attached video. Apparently she thought it was funny. It happened again earlier this month and Adams continues to deny it. Imagine you are a volunteer coming in to spend time with the dogs at the shelter. You walk into the dog area and immediately notice that dogs are soaking wet and shaking with fear. You quickly grab a towel to dry and comfort them, and then you see there are bits of poop all over them and in their food and water dishes. If you are new to Genesee County Animal Shelter, you may be very confused. Sadly, people who have been volunteering for a while, and especially those who volunteered years ago when Stepheni Lazar was Director the first time around, know exactly what happened. Anyone with compassion and even common sense knows that the proper way to clean a dog cage would be to remove the dog and dishes from the cage, then clean. What if the person cleaning is in a hurry? What if they just don’t care about the health of the animals at the shelter, and they dont care if they scare them so much that they do not pass their temperament test and end up losing their life in the garage? In that case they might do what has been done over and over while Stepheni Lazar has been the Director. They take out the high power hose (think power washing a deck) and make quick work of cleaning the kennels leaving the terrified dogs trapped in their small cages. (The word “cleaning” being used loosely.) This is not only highly abusive but it is also illegal and a great way to spread disease. There have been several instances of volunteers seeing the awful results of this cleaning method since Stepheni Lazar has been back. Complaints have been made and workers have actually admitted it. Under Commissioner Adams protection though, nothing has changed. If shelter workers are willing to do this in areas that volunteers can see, we can only assume this is happening every day in the locked wards, where there is no one to see. It is not surprising that the dogs coming out of those locked areas are terrified. If you are outraged like we are, please do two things: 1) Please share this post far and wide. Pegge Adams is up for reelection in August. People living in Davison, Otisville, Genesee Twp, Richfield Twp, Davison Twp, and Forrest Twp need to clear their calendars for August 5 and VOTE HER OUT!!! 2) Call and email Pegge Adams to let her know this is completely unacceptable - [email protected] / (810) 257-3020 press 1 then press 9
