GEO-ENGINEERING a risky necessity My friend Chris messaged me the other day for my opinion on chemtrails. I checked for new developments on the subject, and found that there is a viral video just launched last week about a pilot forgetting to switch off his chemtrail-laying device before landing his 4-engine jet plane. I watched that short video, but did not see anything out of the ordinary. What was shown was a wing-tip vortex which is not uncommon. I could give Chris this quick answer, but then, it opened up a larger question about GEO-ENGINEERING in general, one not immune from conspiracy theories. First let me differentiate chemtrail from contrail. Contrail is short for condensation trail, of which there are basically two types: 1. the exhaust type, and 2. the aerodynamic type. The Exhaust Type of Contrails: Exhaust from jet engines contains water vapor. The temperature outside up at 30,000 ft. is about -40 degrees, so the water vapor condenses instantly into water droplets, then ice droplets. If the humidity is low, the droplets could evaporate quickly, but if the humidity is at or near 100%, the droplets could stay for minutes if not hours, during which time the contrail would remain visible, and could be sheared by winds into a flat horizontal sheet akin to a cirrus cloud formation. An easy demo is to exhale into cold winter air, or running your cars engine on a cold day. How thick the exhaust cloud looks and how long it will last depend on how cold the air it is and how much moisture is held in it per unit volume. The Aerodynamic Type of Contrails: The Wing-Tip and Flap-Edge Vortices are collectively known as the Aerodynamic Contrail Wake Vortex, and the condensation is caused by a sudden change in air pressure caused by the aerodynamic control surfaces of the plane - the wings, winglets, horizontal stabilizers, canards, ailerons and flaps. A sudden lowering of air temperature at certain locales will suddenly lower the ability of the air to hold water, as well as an instant lowering of temperature, thus causing the condensation and the contrails. Again, the condensation in the cold air could remain for seconds, minutes or hours, depending on the humidity and temperature. The above said, the argument that contrails evaporates within seconds whereas chemtrails last for much longer is invalid, since contrails themselves can last for hours. Also, one might argue that all the planes in the pictures were doing high altitude aerosol spraying, but surely, the F-22 jet fighter (3rd row, second from right) wont be used for spraying purposes. Chemtrails are visible trails left behind some kind of aerial spraying operation, conceptual or real. It could be pesticide spraying on ground level or the theoretical or actual spraying of certain chemicals conducted at high altitudes for a variety of purposes, benevolent and malevolent. The main chemicals mentioned from various sources are sulfur, barium oxide (which is toxic), aluminum oxide (which could cause Alzheimers) and heavy metals, especially in nano-particle form, although hard evidence and information on air sampling and analysis are hard to come by. There are, however, pictures and videos showing the insides of large modern planes loaded with large cylinders inside and nozzles outside; their purposes do bear looking into. As to the purposes of high altitude spraying, here is where conspiracy theories abound - secret experiments on the public, development of new weapon systems, depopulation, fighting climate change... Of these, I would give the last the most credence and others almost none. High altitude spraying of heat reflective or absorptive particles or chaff is one of the theoretical ways to curb climate change, but it does not have to involve toxic substances, nor is it the only way in GEO-ENGINEERING. Some conspiracy theorists have said that chemtrail-laying in U.S. and Western European air spaces has been intensive over the last few years to protect agricultural productivity, and could be instrumental to the cold winter of late. But then again, even if so, does it have to involve toxic substances? The biggest question here is Why Geo-Engineering? My own preference is problem solving is prevention over cure. But whether I like it or not, the problem has already arisen. The CO2 and NH4 have been and are being pumped into the atmosphere in huge quantities, and via the atmosphere into the oceans leading to its warming and acidification, and at least teh CO2 will be here to stay for a long long time. Even if we cut fossil fuel burning and methane releases to zero yesterday, and Earth will still continue warming for centuries to come, and species will go extinct by the hundreds of thousands if not millions, and these will include our most beloved creatures from the tigers to the elephants to the eagles to the dolphins and whales. We have exhausted all our options to prevent runaway global heating but have in fact created it, and are in fact intentionally continuing to fuel it. The only option left to us at this stage is Geo-Engineering. Geo-Engineering is a possible cure, but it is definitely our last resort, and wed better do it right.
