GERMAN POLICE TRAINS EFCC OPERATIVES A seven-day International Police Training, organized by the German Police for Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and Department of State Services, DSS, ended on Wednesday, June 4, in Lagos. The training, entitled: Principles and Methods of Police Evaluation, was a capacity-building and international collaborative initiative, facilitated by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany. It held at the Conference Hall of the EFCC, Lagos. Thirty participants, comprising twenty from the EFCC and ten from the DSS, benefited from the programme. German Consul-General, Mr. Michael Derus, explained that the training was aimed at honing the skills of all the participants in operational analysis; collation, sorting and evaluation of information from suspects and developing credible and reliable conclusions from it. “The training is of great importance; it is demanding and intense and it underlies the cooperation between the German Police and the EFCC”, he said. Some of the participants bared their minds on the exercise. Seun Ogunduyile said that the training gave her new insights into contemporary methods of police evaluation. “It was an enriching training. Although the teaching and presentation were intense and deep and required stamina and concentration, I was refreshed and enriched by them”. Another participant, Nweke Chidi said the training was “simply fantastic”. Head of Operations, Lagos Zonal Office of the EFCC, Mr. Iliyasu Kwarbai said that the training reinforced the cordial relationship between the German Police and the EFCC. “We are collaborating well and it is a mutually rewarding relationship between the two organizations”, he said.
