GET READY TO RALLY!!! Below are details for the Oklahoma Education Coalition rally on Monday, March 31. See you there! Time: Program starts at 10:30 a.m. on the south steps of the Oklahoma State Capitol, and will last about 1 hour. After the rally, participants will be encouraged to go into the Capitol building to talk with their legislators. Parking: Off-site parking and shuttle buses at Remington Park and Tinseltown Cinema, both on ML King just south of I-44 (see the map). Shuttle buses will run to and from the Capitol from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Confirmed speakers: Peter Markes, State Teacher of the Year; Keith Ballard, Tulsa Public Schools Superintendent; Warners Erika Vinson, 2012 State Speech Champion representing students; Rep. Lee Denney. Signs: Participants are encouraged to bring their own signs, and the Coalition will provide 10,000 signs that can be held up during the rally. Signs attached to sticks ARE NOT allowed in the Capitol. Some basic reminders: Watch the weather forecast for March 31 and dress accordingly... Wear professional clothing and comfortable shoes... Bring a water bottle and a snack (there will be no vendors at the Capitol)... There will be 20,000 people -- or more! -- at the Capitol that day. If you are fashionably late, you may miss the rally. Come early... This is a peaceful, professional rally and we want to establish good working relations with our legislators. Be vocal, but be informed and be professional...
