GFA begins preparation for the US Virgin Islands 2nd Annual Women’s Carnival Cup A 28 man squad has been announced to begin preparation for the US Virgin Islands 2nd Annual Women’s Carnival Cup taking place in St. Croix from December 29th to January 4th 2015. The female players will begin training early next week following the conclusion of the National GTM Womens League which ends this Saturday at Rose Hill in St. Patrick. The team is expected to take part in the upcoming US Virgin Islands 2nd Annual Women’s Carnival Cup as part of its preparation for future regional womens tournaments. Chairman of the Women’s Committee, Mr. Allan James says “We had no hesitation in accepting the invitation on behalf of the Association since our mandate is and continues to be, to develop on women’s football on the island. “I believe such a tournament will allow for greater exposure of our female players. After recently conducting our Women’s League this is an excellent avenue for our women footballers to continue playing football”. says the Association Vice President. President of the USVI Football Association, Hillaren Frederick, stressed how tournaments like these nurture lasting friendships and create lifetime bonds. He also mentioned that the women will compete against each other in a friendly and safe environment.
