GGAA IEC Violates Constitutions? --eyebrows raised injuriously ========================================================== Happiness is fading away among Grand Gedeans as 2015 IEC generates more questions than answers about how alleged convention-discrepant candidates passed with flying colors. Part of the eligibility to run for office in GGAA’s Administration firmly imposed by the constitution is attendance of at least two (2) conventions during four (4) years preceding a year in which election is scheduled. Article VI Section 1, of the Constitutions of Grand Gedeh Association in the Americas, Inc. states in part that: “… Proof of active membership for the purpose of this provision shall be 1) attendance of at least two (2) of the last four (4) National Conferences immediately preceding the National Conference during which elections are to be held,…” To fulfil this requirement and examine records for attendance of candidates, IEC officially addressed the National Administration a letter dated October 29, 2014, and requested these records. In compliance, the Administration responded to the request of IEC in a letter dated November 5, 2014 with records indicating last four years of convention attendance for the 20 candidates running for offices. Among the records furnished by the Administration, a section shows that Jeremiah Shar of Gwyan’s Team attended only 2014 convention, Harsaus Tarwo and Training Tarlue of Manyeah’s Team attended 2012 and 2014 conventions respectively, and Anthony Marhn and Victoria Grant of Taryorh’s Team have no attendance on file for the last four years of conventions. The records clearly pointed out that these candidates are disqualified to advance to the next round of scrutiny, unless these candidates can prove that the records provided by the GGAA Administration are inaccurate about their attendance, and or take it up with the Administration to make necessary corrections. How the IEC did get them certified with such records, and at same time candidates with discrepant records had not had any redress with the Administration? I am calling on Election Commission to disqualify all individuals who did not meet convention attendance’s quota. I am also calling on Mr. Gwyan and Mr. Manyeah to reject teaming up with individuals who did not meet requirements for they themselves will be in violation for shielding individuals who intend to break rules leaders are to uphold. I applaud Mr. Taryorh and his team to quickly recognize the rules of laws and intended to forward with replacements for candidates who did not meet requirements. In as much as the yard stick used to disqualify individual is not a function of competence, it is important on the part of IEC to honor the rule of law, but what’s coming out of IEC is raising more questions as to whether current members are best fitted for the job. Grand Gedeh Association can no longer tolerate errors, especially those errors that infringe on constitutional provisions. Even, bodies that govern GGAA are wrangling unstable for infringement on constitutional provisions. The hope is that IEC would set a pace for a new dawn and raise leaders that are well qualified as per provisions as she becomes rigid on standards. Conclusively, if it’s true as records indicated concerning convention attendance, and if IEC is unable to follow these requirements to disqualify the aforementioned candidates, as outcomes suggest, IEC must be review.
