GIRLFRIENDS? PERSONALLY Dont do something just because everyone is doing it. As far back as Primary 3, some of my classmates were into a relationship. There was this boy who always got into trouble with the teacher because of leaked love letters. What was called love letter often consisted of the girls name wrongly copied from her exercise book, and maybe the drawing of a heart. It is really hard to immagine the content because this fellow might not have known how to write his own name at the time. The teacher would say to him, You have not even grown a single pubic hair, yet you will die for girls. I personally thought that was too early. Perhaps, Primary 6 would be more reasonable. In Primary Six, some of my classmates again had boyfriends and girlfriends. I didnt get it. Maybe secondary school would be more reasonable. At least, you would be a senior guy then. Of course, right from JSS1, some of my classmates had girlfriends. Evenings were difficult for me, because that was when my friends in the boarding house would separate from me to be joined together and hang out with their girlfriends shortly before night prep started. It was hard not to feel the aloneness. At this time, I had begun to admire some of our female classmates. I thought they were beautiful, but I had no particular reason to engage them in anything. I began to look forward to getting closer to the girls in senior secondary. Before now, we had obvious difficulty relating. By SS1, many of my classmates already had been involved in multiple relationships. But I needed a better reason which I hadnt found yet. Many years have passed and some people do not understand how I waka come this far. Ive had, and do encourage useful interaction between males and females. But I believe that romance must hold only in marriage. At the right time, Ill get into one, and it is not a civil service job which requires 5 years working experience or 3 referees to qualify. You too can be different.
