GIVE “Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will repay him for his deed.- Proverbs 19:7 The Bible is clear that we are to be generous to others. Apostle Paul wrote: “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith… if it is giving, then give generously; ...if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully”. Everyone of us has something to offer. We can give our money and time to charity, we can be a friend to someone who is lonely or sick, we can do a volunteer work. To the natural man, it would seem that the more we give to others, the poorer we become, but just the opposite is true in spiritual reality. Service to others brings meaning and fulfillment to our lives in a way that wealth, power, possessions and self-centered pursuit can never do. Proverbs 11:24 puts it this way: “One gives freely, yet grows all the richer; another withholds what he should give , and only suffers want”. When we are generous in giving what we have – time, money, energy- we please the Lord . Whatever gifts God has given us – large or small- we should give generously. When we do, we make the world better for someone else and find true meaning and satisfaction in our own lives. Henry Drummond said, “The most obvious lesson in Christ’s teaching is that there is no happiness in having or getting, but only in giving.” So make a commitment to give today. Give to the Lord’s work, let us remember those who are laboring full time for His work, let us remember the poor as well, and let us also learn to give as the Lord prompts us, even when there is no visible reason to give. Remember to give from a heart of Love, just as. God did, “for God so loved the World, that He gave…”Stay blessed and give to someone today. PRAYER CONFESSION Dear Heavenly Father, I thank you for the most wonderful gift of your beloved son. I thank you for your loving kindness. I ask for grace to always give generously. I ask that you cause my love to abound more and more in all spiritual understanding. Amen. READING PLAN Proverbs 31,Psalm 122,2 Kings 24-25, Luke 7:1-10, Philippians 4:14-23.
