Maybe for a long time now, you think that the promises that Scripture speaks of...the encouragement that is thrown your way...is for everyone else. Its for the good people, Gods favorite people, the chosen ones. Every word that speaks despair into your heart is a direct lie from an enemy who desires to keep you from knowing God, intimately. Every emotion that screams to you that God doesnt really care is a lie. As hard as it may be for you to believe, you are one of Gods chosen. He doesnt view you as an invisible speck in the vast universe. He looks right at you - sees you. He knows you as no one else does. The exact number of hairs on your head is known by Him. He understands your problems better than you do. It is by His hand that your lungs take in breath and your heart beats. He created you - fashioned you with immense joy and with abounding love. He did not create you for the purpose of being forgotten. He created you to have a relationship with Him. Those things that you have chased - those things that you thought would be fulfilling, would bring you happiness, or in the very least, some measure of peace - they are fleeting, they are empty, none of them sacrificed for you, none paid a price for you. Most likely, you have sacrificed for them. You have paid a high price, a costly installment that has robbed you of peace. God loved you, still loves you, enough to die for you. Youve heard it before...youve perhaps even know the story well...but do you live there? Do you understand what has been done for you? Do you get that God, who is holy and just was perfectly in love with you enough, cared enough, to split himself in two...turning his back on his son while Christ became your vile sin while suffocating on the cross? Your sins, your actions, your choices, the lives that you have thrown into chaos, the people you have hurt...even all of that ...done, finished, complete...if you ask for forgiveness, if you repent. If you humble yourself of your pride that really hasnt served you all that well and bow to the One who will never forsake you, you will be forgiven. Your slate will be wiped clean. Crazy isnt it? God loves you. It sounds so simple. It sounds too easy. Its so simplistic, even a child could understand. You are His child. He created you. He loves you. His promises are for you too! He has paid the highest ransom for you - you need never to make another installment again with your striving and running. He has paid your debt in full with his complete and perfect love. Im talking to you...directly to you. If I were with you, Id look straight into your eyes and speak these words, God is for you, He loves you, He has not forgotten you. Hes waiting.... O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before you. May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry. Psalm 88:1,2
