GIVING THE RIGHT MEASURE In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, Most Merciful May the peace and blessing of Allah be upon our noble Prophet Muhammad, Salalaahu alyi Wasalam. Allah Subuhanau, Wa Taala, warns us about not giving right or full measurement to people. He says in the holy Quran Chapter 83, Verses 1 - 5, and I quote In the Name of Allah the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful 1. Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease in the rights of others). 2. Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 3. And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 4. Think they not that they will be resurrected (for reckoning) 5. On a Great Day. Allah specifically cursed those who give less measure, like the trader who reduces the Measuring Standard, the business owner or employers who pay un-comensurate Salaries to their staff, but ensures their clients pay comensurate fees for services rendered. This act is bad; thats why Allah cursed the perpetuators, but it is most suprissing that Muslims are involved in this bad act. Today cheating is the order of the day among Muslims, when we are supposed to show the light to others. Muslim employers prefer to keep more money to themselves, rather than pay good salaries to their workers. The Prophet (PBUH) is quoted below: Aby Horayrah said: the messenger of Allah (PBUPH) said: You will give the rights of people back to them on the dooms day till the Galhaa sheep will revenge from the one of Qarnaa. Muslim narrated it. Brothers and Sisters in Islam, we must not deceive ourselves with unfounded excuses or justification just because we are scholars.
