GIVING TUESDAY, DECEMBER 2ND The holiday season is upon us. During this time of giving and sharing please remember LICADD for your annual charitable giving this year. We have joined forces with #GivingTuesday, the official national day of giving on December 2nd to encourage Americans to follow up their Black Friday and Cyber Monday savings with one day of giving back to charities that assist local communities throughout the year. We are very excited to join this movement and hope you will take advantage of this special holiday giving opportunity. The current opiate epidemic on Long Island has touched every community. It knows no bounds of socioeconomic status, race, gender, or geography. It is overwhelmingly affecting our young people, tearing apart families, destroying futures, and ultimately, claiming lives. Addiction is a treatable disease and those who suffer are never beyond hope. When a crisis knocks at our door, LICADD answers – at any hour, to any caller. We are increasingly becoming an agency for those deemed “hopeless” or “untreatable”, due to the complexities of their disease, co-occurring disorders, or their histories of failed attempts at treatment. Every day, LICADD saves lives and renews hope for bright futures. At least one Long Islanders dies of an accidental overdose every day. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for considering LICADD during this season of generosity. We depend on donations from individuals like you as we strive to expand our lifesaving services during challenging economic times. Your neighbors, friends, and family members will be healthier in the coming year because of LICADD’s work. licadd.org
