GLASSNOST AND PERESTROIKA IS THE NEED OF THE HOUR. Mikhail Gorbachev shall always be remembered in history for using these two words (English : Transparency & Reform) to save then Super Power Soviet Union facing serious economic and political crisis. The fruits of transparency and reforms were different however. Communist Soviet Union collapsed and all the 17 countries were liberated to become democratic republics. The objective here is not to discuss history but the importance of transparency and reforms in political work. AAP is going to complete Two Years since the party was born on 25 November 2012. From anti-corruption movement - demand for Jan Lokpal, the new Party made Swaraj as its goal. AAP demands political parties to be brought under the ambit of RTI Act. Transparency,accountability,corruption-free governance, empowering people at the grassroot level are AAPs primary objective. But should we say that these are not what other political parties wish to do ? All other parties do also proclaim the same things. Fighting corruption is not an Ideology but a policy in governance. Swaraj limited self governance is an instrument to be given to people in villages, municipality wards. But is that all about a political party to go National ? The party has to articulate its economic policies, policies in matters of health,education,reservation,minority communities,SCs,STs,land /natural resources,industry,agriculture,foreign affairs and so on. For the incoming Delhi state election the party is not making any hype about a Lokpal for which it hacked its own feet last February. Recently TOI published a PTI report in which Party Leader Kejriwal told PTI that he would focus in Delhi for the next 5-10 yrs and depending upon peoples response in Delhi towards AAP he would decide whether to go to other states or not. What is this mean to AAPs existing volunteers in different states ? AAP has to bring in Reforms in its policies, ideology (whether Left,Right or Centre) & be Transparent to its volunteers and members.
