GLI 1.3AT First driving Review [courtesy: Pakwheels guy InNoCeNt_DeViL] About my experience after test driving new 1.3 corolla Auto First impressions A nice and well built car Considering prices of other cars and previous shape corolla in 2013 / 2014 , a reasonably priced car with avg features , better than the competition The new things that I noticed Front map lights optitron meter eco indication while driving with light foot multi info display has outside temperature reading too same great finish and quality as of Altis obviously it lacks a few things same soft padding everywhere on the plastics same chrome lining around front cup holders as in Altis same rear arm rest same chrome line around the in dash audio system Carpeted lining hiding the frame of the trunk comfortable seats good soft fabric same light steering as compared to civic I didnt feel any such difference apart from cosmetic changes about transmission and 1299 cc engine smooth shifting no jerks 1, 2 , 3 and then D all 4 modes if u want to floor it Everyone was criticising the 1.3 auto version here even without driving one and thats y I had doubts obviously they will bring something like that after testing it on paki roads I went to the showroom in my 9th gen civic , obviously dont expect such impressive acceleration from a 1.3 ltr engine but it was not bad at all a perfect car for daily drive I floored it and it was responsive here I am comparing it with city 1.3 prosmatec engine and transmission both were working perfectly together in honda city I notice the rpm needle goes to 4 or 5 even at lower speeds if u give pick in traffic etc this one felt better brakes were good handling was too good , wasnt expecting this from a corolla , it almost felt like I am driving a civic at sharp corners gave full pick in 1 then shifted to 2 then 3 then D on left , touched 110 and it was a nice experience considering such a big body and small engine it was good the gate type gear lever looks great and is really soft and well finished when u change gear modes manually visibility since most of the routes had jam pack traffic when i was having test drive i felt a bit uncomfortable as compared to civic visibility was not as good as civic but i will comment on that after i will get my car may be the seat wasnt properly set for me The worst thing that i felt and may be i am the only one saying this here Seems like this car has a stiff suspension all corollas used to have a soft and cushioning effect on bumps and bad roads but this one really felt hard I am comparing it with the comfort level of civic on such bad roads but with Michelin Tyres Corollas always felt much better than civics on bad roads even with eurostars but this is no longer the case now Changing the tyres is a must if u drive on rough roads Cabin was quite and no weird tak tuk sounds from anywhere in the car Inner door handles are not chrome ones like altis Heads up display and all other optional accessories will be available for all variants even xli and gli so thats good I am happy and satisfied with my decision of booking Gli auto
