GM FB FAM A few years ago I stopped to talk to a group of homeless people (2 ladies and 3 men). I took them food. As we chatted I inquired what brought them to the point of literally living on the streets. Robert (a marine veteran) who migrated from NY shared that after 911 things began to take a turn for the worst. Edie (partially blind in one eye as well as a couple of other noticeable physical ailments) the stay at home mom with two kids said that her happily ever after was destroyed after her husband decided to dump her for his ho-tress (please pardon the language but there is nothing mistress about a female fooling with someones signed, sealed & delivered package)! Okay back to our regularly scheduled program: That year for Thanksgiving I decided to pick up my friends and bring them over. The dinner table was set with linen, china and the food spread (I love to entertain). In gratitude Edie insisted on helping me to clean afterwards. Ole Mista and I explained that they were our guest and we were to serve them. I was moved to tears when she told me how theyve been subjected to mistreatment by others all because they were homeless. Before leaving Karen asked if I had a purse that I could spare and Edie wanted lipstick. Since then Id keep contact with my friends. I shared my phone number and told them dont hesitate to use it. Over time Id hear from Edie. Eventually my 5 pack became scattered. I saw Robert one day who said that Karen was now in Homestead near the Racetrack gas station. Just yesterday there was a voice message left by Edie to say that her disability came thru annnnnd that she is now able to afford an efficiency!!!!!!! She thanked me once again for the dinner and the lipstick and asked if I could help her out with some food...WHAT?! Are you kidding me?!?! OF COURSE!!!! WHAT A MIGHY GOD WE SERVE...if we can help somebody....then our living will not be in vain!
