GM FB Fam. I have so much I want to say, so many thoughts running through my mind. As a christian man, I have a responsibility to follow a spiritual life established by God and navigating the perils of this world while yet maintaining this life isnt always easy. The politics of our day make it difficult to love my enemy, to pray for those in authority, to maintain a level of restraint in the midst of utter chaos, but I have to learn to do so because thats what my walk requires. I prayed this morning for God to show me exactly how to maintain a walk that was worthy of Him but yet articulate my displeasure for our racial and political climate. The best example I can think of is Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who showed exemplary restraint in the face of serious opposition, who maintained a love even towards his oppressors and instructed many to follow his lead. But, I dont want the feeling that I cannot work hand in hand with those who are working towards the same political end who have different spiritual beliefs. Although Malcolm and Martin traveled different roads they ultimately wanted to arrive at the same destination. I cannot separate my culture and ethnicity from my spirituality and as such I cannot work independently of my brothers and sisters simply because we believe differently. We should all have similar concerns if in fact we are working toward a similar goal. Whether believer or not were all working towards a better system to raise our children, to exercise the freedoms granted to us by our constitution and to not be fearful of the people sworn to protect and uphold those rights whether officers or politicians. I pray that not only I come to this realization but that my other brothers and sisters come to the same conclusion. I cant help but think of the progress made if in fact the Black Panther Party, the SCLC, SNCC and the Nation of Islam worked more jointly rather than separately. I cant help but think how we can learn from that and not allow those same divisions to cripple our movement today. Just something to think about. Be Blessed today FB Fam. and keep fighting the good fight.
