GM FB! Up at 4:45am this lovely morning and still in house repair mode. Happy to report Allstate will issue a nice supplemental claims check for the kitchen subfloor removal and replacement; so, as soon as it arrives, well get The Floor Source in here to begin the new floor installation. While were at it doing all the post-flood repairs in the kitchen, well probably get a carpenter in to replace and reface the kitchen cabinets. Might as well make Barbara totally happy with a completely redone kitchen! Once thats done, well address the basement fix. Yesterday, we began putting the just renovated and repainted deck back to working order. The table, chairs, propane tanks, BBQ grill and tomato plants are back, and I was able to BBQ dinner last night. We changed the direction of the table, and the deck seems much roomier now. The deck looks good and its ever so much sturdier and more securely affixed to the house. On the way home from my prison acrylics class yesterday, I picked up a heavily discounted heavy wooden picnic table at Lowes, and as soon as its dry weather-wise, Ill paint and weatherproof it. Going to place it near the new fish pond so I can have people over to paint WC and acrylic in our bucolic, wooded back yard. At 7am this morning, Ill be picking up the first of two truckloads of mulch to cover out lower driveways. The first driveway at the garage doors is paved, but the other two driveways are roughly hewn and uneven; so, mulch seems like the best choice to keep the natural feel and to provide a proper travel route for our deer. I also bought two additional full palettes of 1-3 inch lilac stone yesterday (same as the fish pond retainer wall), and theyre being delivered this morning at 10am. Im going to build a waterfall for the fishpond, as well as some borders for flower gardens with it; also, a feeding structure for the deer. Best news of all, our daughter, Alaina, will arrive later today from Staten Island for a six day visit; so, we are even more excited because well have some company at Casa Daskal! Well, its almost mulch p/u time; so, Id better get a move on. Its going to take a few hours to get it, offload it and spread it on driveway #3 before the T-storms hit. Carpe diem FB!
