GM Facebook Family! As I promised, I am doing a 7 day Pastors Perspective on the situation in Ferguson MO. Again, I am not trying to give a verdict because everyone by law is innocent until proven guilty, so that policeman will and must have his day in court. But here is the problem - because of decades of discrimination and years of racism either overtly or covertly, there has now developed a perception by police that all black boys are Bad and all our men mean no good. So we now receive the reverse of being Guilty until proven Innocent. African American men, especially our teens, are viewed as criminals, drug dealers or law breakers at first glance. I was in a barbershop recently and it was 6 men of color in there and I asked who had been stopped multiple times by police and all six raised their hands. So because of this we must teach our black boys to instantly raise their hands when confronted by police even if they have done nothing. Yet no Caucasian parent ever has to have that conversation with their children. This is morally and legally Wrong. What we must do as African American parents is to lift our hands to God and Pray for the protection of our children and for a Change in the perception of us as a People. God will do the first, but we must demand that the Nation we love, live and have died for do the second.. The Word say .. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, we will except No Less!
