GM Jhoon Rhee, a Pioneer of TKD & called by many the Father of TKD in the USA, was an innovator in many ways, including the television commercial which aired in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Supposedly it had great results. He was a founding member of the ITF, an early proponent of the safety kick & punch protective padding for sparring & authored a series a 5 books on the 1st 9 Chon Ji forms or ITF Tuls (Patterns). It is no wonder why General Choi Hong Hi, the principle founder of the Original (or military) TKD, which came to be known as ITF TKD & 1st Founding President of the ITF, considered GM Rhee as a good candidate for eventual ITF President. However GM Rhee, like many other South Korean ITF Masters, eventually left the ITF. He created his own forms, set to classical music.
