GMA NEWS: DEC. 4, 2013 73, including foreigners, arrested for health card fraud in Mandaluyong Philippine law enforcers on Tuesday arrested 73 people, including four foreigners, allegedly involved in a health card fraud using access devices. Those arrested were 69 Filipinos, three Americans and an Indian national, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Wednesday. The suspects were employees of telemarketing company Pantheon Concepts HLK Company with office at Worldwide Corporate Center along Shaw Boulevard in Mandaluyong city. The suspects were accused of violating the Access Devices Regulation Act, which prohibits the use of access devices for fraudulent acts. Police said the company offered free diabetic supplies but required clients to provide Medicare card number and other financial information for verification. The cost would then be deducted from the clients insurance but the supplies would not be delivered to the customers, the police added. The Americans were identified as Herber Kimble, Sergio Cevile, Wasil Ahmed, while the Indian national was identified as Sham Negi. The US Inspector General in Washington earlier alerted persons with diabetes against telemarketing companies using health card verification. The arrests were made after a warrant was issued by Judge Lyliha Abella-Aquino of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 24 on December 2, said Senior Superintendent Gilbert Sosa, chief of the PNPs anti-cybercrime group (ACG). Seized from the suspects were computer servers, telephones, computers, routers, laptops, printers, LCD monitors, and VoIP phones, which were used to transmit calls over the internet. The suspects immediately underwent inquest proceedings at the prosecutors office in Mandaluyong city. They are now under the custody of the ACG. — Marc Jayson Cayabyab/KBK, GMA News
