QUILAO AL AIN, United Arab Emirates — In order to send extra money to her family in the Philippines, a Filipino office employee here would use her God-given talent to moonlight as a singer — joining singing contests, performing as front act to more established artists, even becoming a Magic Sing endorser. “I would be an executive employee by day then a singer [by] night,” Loudyryan Fajardo Laturnas, a 33-year-old administrator in a cleaning company, shared via email. The indefatigable Loudyryan said she has been juggling her day job with her busy singing career for five years already that a hotel once tagged her “Sensational Diva of the Middle East.” “Ginawa ko kasing bread and butter ang pagkanta. Maliit lang kasi talaga sahod ko kaya nagpu-pursige akong manalo para magka-extra,” she said. “I even have the list of contest schedules attached on my wall for me to be reminded,” added Loudyryan. Loudyryan is the eldest of eight siblings. Born in Cebu but raised in Bohol, her father passed away when she was 15. “From then onn, life was so hard for me since I am the first child,” she shared. Achievements Loudyryan first singing competition was held during the Singles for Christ National Assembly in 2008. She had been paired with Leo Dalida in its duet category where they won as grand champion. “After noon, nagpursige na akong sumali,” she said now. To date, Loudyryan has joined in about 20 singing competitions here. “Kapag di ako nagcha-champion, runner-up ako. Minsan, siyempre, natatalo din kasi marami din magagaling,” she said. Front act, band member, solo singer Loudyryan had been the front act during the concerts of notable Filipino talents here, among them Anton Diva, Aljur Abrenica, Jonalyn Viray, True Faith, Rachel Ann Go, Jennylyn Mercado, Jay-R, Julie Ann San Jose, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, and Luke Mejares. She also used to be a member of “Loudstrings,” a rock band that won the “Rock Aid 2 Band of the Night” here in 2009. “May mga nag-invite na nga sa akin to do a solo concert. Yun ang next project ko saka will do some recordings and compositions,” she said of her future plans. Aside from joining singing contests, Loudyryan has performed in various parties and celebrations with different nationalities, concerts-for-a-cause, and government events where she would be represented as one of the “Filipino Pride” here. A hotel in Dubai, the Majestic Hotel, where she used to sing every night, labeled her the “Sensational Diva of the Middle East.” “Sensational kasi halos lahat ng contest, andun ako,” said Loudyryan, who is also likened to Jennifer Hudson, an American artist. GMA experience Loudyryan has played in Marimar, a Mexican telenovela franchised by GMA Network, before she went here. She acted the role of Elena, Marimar’s friend. “Sobrang mahalaga sa akin yung mga na-experience ko sa mga tapings. Pangarap ko kasi talagang maging artista kaya malaking bagay sa akin yun,” Loudyryan said. Aside from being an artist, Loudyryan has also been the endorser of Magic Sing Karaoke here. She has also judged some singing contests. “Lately, official coach ako ng talent search ni Mr. Vehnee Saturno. It was called Star Ka Na In UAE and organized by Pulse International headed by Ms. Eileen Faith,” she said. Through her ups and downs, she has gotten support from these people, among them Deerex Villarin, Myles Capulong, Dir. Jing Patrick, Jonathan Gultimatico, and Emil Barcenilla. “I will sing for the rest of my life. Hinding-hindi ako susuko,” Loudyryan said. —KBK, GMA News
