GMA NEWS: SEPT. 29, 2013 NDRRMC: Damage from storm-enhanced rain hits P78.9M The heavy monsoon rain enhanced by Tropical Storm Paolo (Wutip) last week caused some P78.927 million in damage to agriculture and infrastructure, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Sunday. In its update, the NDRRMC said the monsoon rain caused P54,427,732.60 in damage to agriculture in Bataan, Zambales and Occidental Mindoro. Damage to infrastructure in Zambales, Occidental Mindoro and Palawan was estimated at P24.5 million, it added. As of Sunday, the NDRRMC said the monsoon rain and floods affected at least 123,698 families or 590,641 people in 332 villages in 36 towns and 11 cities in seven provinces. Of these, 6,140 families or 26,486 people are staying in 108 evacuation centers. The NDRRMC also said at least 18 areas remained flooded in Calabarzon. It also said at least 76 houses were destroyed while 65 were damaged. It said the Baliwag-Candaba-Sta. Ana Road Candaba section was not passable to all vehicles yet as it is muddy. In Batangas, the NDRRMC said the Batangas-Tabangao-Lobo Road in Barangay Banalo was only "half-lane passable." In Cavite, the Tagaytay-Taal Lake Road was "half-lane impassable" due to a landslide. — LBG, GMA News
