GO DUCKS!!!! BEAT the WHO? Lets take a look a these Seminoles...The Seminole are a Native American people originally of Florida. They comprise three federally recognized tribes and independent groups, most living in Oklahoma with a minority in Florida. So the publicly funded science, agricultural, and technology school in the State of Florida have named themselves after a tribe of indigenous tribal nations who were invaded, killed, corralled, shipped to Oklahoma, and later reminded of that fact by Floridian tax dollars supporting an educational institution who glibly names its sporting team after the fact. Sure doesnt ring true of a school I would want to attend in the great United States. At the great University of Oregon, we have a long standing tradition to through out any leader, program, or corporate entity from the state who participates in activities that endorse, celebrate or gain from inhumane efforts, case in point Nike in the 1990s with thier sweat shops in SE Asia. DUCKS rallied and their cheif donor changed its ways! I would say to each his own in the case of the Seminoles, but my federal taxes also go through the U.S. Department of Education to fund that despicable set of circumstances known as Florida State University Seminoles. Why dont they call themselves the Farmers, or the Explorers, or something else? GO DUCKS!!!!! Beat those bigots!
