GOD WANTS US TO PROSPER Psalm 35 verse 27 It is a fallacy to believe that we should only experience God’s miracles in every area of our lives except in our finances. God works signs and wonders in our finances. God takes pleasure and is delighted when His children prosper. He is not a wicked God. He loves us and wants us to prosper and walk in abundance (Matthew 6: 31-32). God knows that we need material things and He is willing and able to provide them for us. It is important that we realise that He does not want us to go through hardship. God will not bless you until you believe that He wants you to prosper (John 6:4-5). God knows that finances affect all areas of our lives because money is a defence and money answers all things (Ecclesiastes 7:12; 10:19). Since He knows we need the finances and other possessions, He does not want us to worry about how we can get them. God is an awesome God of increase and He is interested in prospering us. He is referred to as El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough. The disciples found themselves in a tight situation because they needed to feed at least five thousand men and they did not have enough resources to provide for the multitude. Peter became anxious because even with 200 denarii (which was equivalent to eight months’ wages) worth of bread, each person would just have a little to eat. Yet, Jesus knew what He was going to do (John 6: 6-7). Same thing today, God knows exactly how to prosper you. Your life and your situation is not a mystery to Him. His thoughts are more advanced than yours and He knows the best path for your life (Isaiah 55: 8-9). One simple instruction from God can revolutionise your life. God Himself knows that you are not free until you are economically free. When He delivered the children of Israel from Egypt, the first thing He did was to empower them financially. Without economic empowerment, you are not ready for life’s assignments. Learn to lean on God and stop your calculations and your dependence on human ability and relationships or “connections”. When we realise what God has in store for us, we will stop being anxious and full of worry. After feeding the five thousand, there were twelve baskets left over which tells us that God is a God of more than enough (John 6: 8-14). Don’t reduce the size of your expectations because of your current status. You need to believe God and know that He alone calls those things which do not exist and brings them into existence (Romans 4: 17). This is not the time to speak negatively about yourself and your circumstances. Speak God’s word at all times. This is a season to believe God’s promises for you and to walk in God’s favour such that His aroma will be upon you (Genesis 27: 1-3; 26-29). Stop looking at yourself and your financial status according to your own abilities (Psalm 71: 21 God wants us to prosper.
