GOLD COAST EXPO COMPLAINTS... ***If you are considering posting a complaint about the expo then I urge you to please read this through and then decide if the organizers and displayers deserve the comment you are about to make*** What people dont realize is that Troy had a choice of paying $20,000 or $7000 for a venue... He chose the $7000 venue this year as it`s his pocket the money has to come from... Plus several thousand more for insurance, security, kids activities, table & chair hire and everything else that goes hand in hand with such an event..... He had the option of cancelling the expo completely or taking the risk of being out of pocket several thousand dollars so that the public could come along and have a look around and experience the hobby he and so many others of us are very passionate about....It is a HUGE job for exhibitors also and it is not easy getting people to agree to pull all their display enclosures out, clean them all, pack up a heap of animals that are mostly in the middle of breeding atm and set them up for display for everyone elses enjoyment... None of these people get a cent out of all the effort they go to and it is so disheartening when people go away and only complain about what wasnt there and never acknowledge any of the positives that were there.... If they think they can do a better job of bringing it all together year after year then im sure Troy and other organizers of such expensive time consuming events would gladly step back and let them do it.. All I ask is that before you post negative comments up about it please consider the fact that for most it was only $25 to take their family out to see some amazing reptiles and meet some very passionate experienced keepers.... All the displayers were more than happy to talk to you all and answer your questions and gave up their weekend to do so... There were people displaying animals or product who had come from Victoria, NSW, the top end of Qld and many other long distance areas who deserve a show of appreciation for their efforts and not a kick in the guts because it wasnt up to your standards... If the $25 a family expo isnt good enough for you then maybe you are better off spending approx. $200 min to take your family to Australia Zoo.. I personally think that even though the expo was a lot smaller this year, the quality and variety of animals was absolutely awesome and I want to thank Troy & everyone who volunteered their time to help plus all those who brought their animals and products in for making this all available for us to enjoy.....
