GOLD PLATING WORKS BEGINS FOR SWARNA RATHAM ----------------------------------------------------------------- TIRUMALA, AUGUST 26:(Spot News) The gold plating works for the swarna ratham began at SV Museum in Tirumala on Monday with TTD EO Sri MG Gopal and Tirumala JEO Sri KS Sreenivasa Raju performing special puja to the chariot and other related instruments. Later speaking to media persons, TTD EO said, "the much awaited gold plating works to wooden structure of old chariot for Sri Tirumala temple commenced today here and the chariot is expected to ready for the upcoming brahmotsavams", he added. The EO said, over 73 kilos of gold, 2900 kilos of copper will be used towards the guild works of the chariot and is expected to complete in the next 25 days. The total cost of the 30-feet chariot is around 25crores, he maintained.
