GOOD ARTICLE TRYING ERASE THE N-WORD FROM THE NFL AND ITS LOCKER ROOMS,SO MANY DONT REALIZE ITS GUTTER TALK,WHATEVER IT MEANT TO BE MEAN OR NOT. As news comes that the NFL may be trying to ban use of the N-word on the field during games by making its use a penalty, Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark said that club owner Dan Rooney has tried to end its use in the locker room. “Mr. Rooney actually talked to [cornerback] Ike Taylor about it this season,” Clark told ESPN (via Pro Football Talk). “Ike and Mr. Rooney have a very good relationship. He told Ike, ‘I don’t want you guys using that word.’ “Ike went around to specific people and said, ‘Listen, this is what Mr. Rooney told me.’ … [Rooney] has a lot of respect, and because of the way he has treated us as players, as black athletes, also treated Coach [Mike] Tomlin as a black coach, you know it’s coming from a place of love.” Rooney wanted the word to stop coming out of the players’ mouths and from any music playing in the locker room. So, how did it go? “You stopped hearing it immediately that day,” Clark said. “But after a while it came back because it’s the culture. After a while it comes back because this is what these guys have grown up with.” csnbaltimore/blog/ravens-talk/steelers-try-ban-slur-locker-room?p=ya5nbcs&ocid=yahoo
