GOOD FRIDAY marks the day on which Jesus Christ was crucified. Jesus Christ was born to Marry in Nezareth – a small town in Israel. Jesus Christ was the founder of Christianity, one of the world’s largest religions. Christ is believed to be an incarnation of God and his teachings are described in the New Testament. Good Friday is a religious holiday observed by the Christian community to commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus and His death. Also known as Holy Friday, Great Friday or Black Friday, this sacred day is marked during the Holy Week on the Friday, preceding Easter Sunday. The festival often coincides with the Jewish occasion of Passover. A time of fasting, penance and mourning, the church conducts liturgical services that begin at noon and continue for the next three hours. By keeping the pulpit and altar bare, the entire ceremony depicts a somber appearance. Furthermore, people pass text messages to one another on the festival of Good Friday in remembrance of his sacrifice for the humankind.
