GOOD MORNING EVERYONE AND MAY YOU HAVE A GREAT SUNDAY ! This post will not be as long as my usual Sunday posts. Yesterday was one of those days that suck the energy out of you. The tragic shooting of Merrillville police officer Nick Schultz has had a significant impact on the residents of our town. I know the employees and police officers at Merrillville town hall are a close knit family and this is very hard on them. As Merrillvilles former Clerk Treasurer, I administered the oath of office to many of the older officers. I have spoken to some and this has definitely affected them. Later in the evening I learned of the death of a great guy and friend, Mr. Bill Dovellos. Bill serves on the parish council of our church with me. He has been courageously fighting an illness for some time . His commitment to his church and family was unwavering even when he didnt feel well. He would help you anyway he could. As you go to church today, please say a prayer for these two men and their families . Having said all that, I hope you have a relaxing day and a Blessed, safe and peacefully uneventful new week. May the memories of this men be eternal. Dont forget to laugh and love. Life is definitely to short to be hateful and bitter. jp
