GOOD MORNING ! GOOD PEOPLE ! RESPECT FOR RELIGION - Every morning wake up to Azaan, then the bell tolls and then Suprabatham..... well feel proud that we all are born in such a great Nation .....we respect our differences and the religion each one of us chooses to profess.... Anyone who enters the Madras High Court cannot miss the Idol of Sir.T.Muthuswamy Iyer. ....this is an anecdote when Muslim and Hindu judges of the Presidency High Courts of those days held each other in esteem. Justice Iyer was on a pilgrimage to Benares, he visited the Allahabad High Court. The simple man that he was , ( with no paraphernalia ) was stopped at the entrance. He then sent a chit to the Registrar and what followed !!! An English lawyer and Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru were locked in arguments in an important case but when the presiding judge who was a Muslim saw Justice Iyers chit, he intervened to tell the court of the waiting dignitary at the entrance and everybody rushed out to escort Justice Iyer to the courts rostrum and the whole court rose to offer a most respectful welcome to the legendary figure from the then Madras Bench. Sir Tej Bahadur Sapru told him how the esteemed Muslim judge of that High Court paid his Pranams to Justice Iyer in the traditional way at the very entrance itself and how Justice Iyer blessed him heartily and openly. Those were the days when Indians respected the religion of one another. However nowadays most often than not feel sad when there are skirmishes and the Respect for Religion and the mutual esteem of our brothers and sisters of whatever religion is lost - would then think that are the Sadhus, Sannyasisis, Mullas and Maulvis are to be blamed ? On this note surely my dear brother Aj Jawad will agree .
