GOOD MORNING GROUP: We have a member of our group that is going have a great amount of medical bills. Her name is Josie Reitzel Osborn. Within a matter of days her life has been turned upside down. Having lost everything in a house fire in 2013, life was finally returning to normal...until last week. Here is her story: I have Wegeners Granulomatosis which has caused Tracheal Stenosis. Im undergoing chemo and strong doses of steroids right now along with IV infusions of another drug that kills my B cells. This is a super rare autoimmune disease. Its like cancer in that this disease attacks your cells and changes them. From there it attacks ones lungs, upper respiratory, sinuses, and kidneys. It can also attack other systems like your heart because it is a form of Vasculitis. So far my kidneys are good. But, Ive lost hearing in my left ear and it feels like a constant ear infection, I have a nodule on my lung, I have Tracheal Stenosis which may require surgery for in the future but right now Thank God, these meds should deter that. My upper respiratory was attacked. It can also disfigure your nose causing saddle nose, your eyes and the roof of your mouth. I was luck I was diagnosed early, because in the 70s you only had 5 months to live afterwards. Now they say 8+ years. But with this doctors care I should have a normal life expectancy! I have to go to Boston for IV infusions every 4 months for the rest of my life. We need to get this into remission.
