GOOD NEWS ON BRIGADE OWNED VEHICLES Centralised registration of Brigade Owned Vehicles (BOVs) and the removal of personal liability from Brigade nominees has now been resolved. The solution comes after lengthy groundwork and ongoing encouragement from the VFBV/CFA Joint Equipment and Infrastructure Committee, and good work by CFA Fleet Services. Key points are; - The Brigade will still own the vehicle, but CFA will now manage the registration and any traffic fines - The removal of personal liability from the Brigade nominee to CFA Corporate for licensing issues - CFA will fund the first year’s registration costs through a Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Grant - CFA have committed to working with VFBV over the next 12 months to investigate ways for CFA to pick up the cost of registrations permanently - Brigades with personalised plates can keep them, and still enjoy the benefits of centralised registration & no liability for the brigade nominees This is a win for Brigades, an achievement for VFBV and CFA, and a demonstration of the great value of the VFBV/CFA Joint Committee system.
