GOOD NEWS for the first time participating workers that they will be able to undertake further training and an english course in Australia . ..( in this case all workers from Fiji will be regarded as first timer...if Fiji is to be included in this program...) Seasonal Worker Program Add-on Skills Training The Seasonal Worker Program commenced on 1 July 2012 and aims to contribute to the economic development of eight participating Pacific Island countries and Timor-Leste. The Add-on Skills Training component of the programme allows seasonal workers to access basic training opportunities to increase their performance capability both in Australia and in their home country. Developing skills is an important feature of the programme. Seasonal workers can receive formal qualifications under the Australian Quality Training Framework at no cost to the worker or the Approved Employer. First time seasonal workers recruited under the programme will have an opportunity to receive training in Australia in: basic English literacy and numeracy basic Information Technology skills first aid Returning seasonal workers will have the opportunity to complete a Recognition of Prior Learning assessment against competencies at a Certificate I or II level in the sector that they have been working in. For example, the horticulture sector or the accommodation sector. Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) can refer to the section below for more information in regards to applying to deliver Add-on Skills Training to seasonal workers. Applicants should read the Add-on Skills Training Factsheet for Registered Training Organisations and updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) which supersede the Addenda and FAQs previously provided on the AusTender website. Invitation to deliver Add-on Skills Training to seasonal workers The Department of Employment is calling for applications from Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) interested in providing Add-on Skills Training to seasonal workers participating in the programme in any or all of the following areas: basic English literacy and numeracy basic Information Technology skills first aid The Request for Application for Inclusion tender process is open on a permanent basis until early 2016. The application process is competitive, with all applications being assessed by the Department. Application documentation can be found on the AusTender website. As a result of this tender, the Department has established a Multi-use List of RTOs to provide this training for seasonal workers.
