GOOD READS; I have to say the amount of reading I have managed to get in over the holidays has been amazing but being back at work 2 weeks and I have not had enough time to even look at a page. I have re-issued some books that I had previous to Christmas and have also gotten some others on my night stand. The reasoning behind these currents books are simple; 1. The New Cook Books that I have chosen make me happy, reading the process in detail makes me feel alive. 2. As you know I am a big fan of real stories and found this little number in the MOST POPULAR SHELF I’m hoping you will like it. 3. I am still on a journey every day to be a better person in all facets of my life THE GAZA KITCHEN - Laila El-Haddad & Maggie Schmit; I first flicked through this book and an image caught my eye. While on holiday my sister taught the kids to make flour tortillas and cooked them on her pot belly stove the experience was magical, there was a picture here of just that. On reading this half in the dark last night I found pure magic in the old styles of cooking that are still used, the stories are compelling of the survival of the Palestinian’s in Gaza, how they are learning to become self-sufficient and to survive against great odds. This book is a significant look at the people and food of this tiny corner of the world. The stories, images and food are completely honest, it is refreshingly beautiful. We are so blessed! FEAST OUR FOOD OUT EAST – Graeme Williams I am in the middle of a project and to be honest finding recipes on Google for Maori inspired Food is terrible, then across this book I came. Not only am I from the East Coast but this book has just the right amount of Traditional versus Non Traditional Methods of cooking included. The images are stunning and it has just what I want – BOIL UP & DOUGH BOYS, I can’t wait to read the rest. AMPLE HILLS CREAMERY , Secrets from Brooklyn’s Favourite Ice cream Shop– Jackie Cuscuna & Brian Smith I bought an Ice cream maker over Christmas so what do I need? A Book easy enough for the kids to follow …. This one out of the vast array was chosen purely for its imagery…… wow wow wow! Breakfast Trash is going to be our first attempt, we are very excited and will take pictures to show you our own personal journey. !! DISCIPLINED DREAMING - Josh Linkner This book has to have been one of my holiday favourites a proven system to help drive creativity in our personal lives and work. Out there is an entrepreneur who is forging a bullet with your company name on it. Youve got one option now - to shoot first. Youve got to out innovate the innovators. - GARY HAMEL UNTAMED The Wildest Women in America and the Fight for Cumberland Island – Will Harlan What do I enjoy more but stories about Head Strong Women? This one fights for what she believes in, is self-taught and comes up against old money; her task is to save the Cumberland Island National Park, the country’s largest biologically diverse Barrier Island, before it is sold off piece by piece destroying a tale of an American Hero written by an American Hero. I hope you enjoy these as much as I am.... !
