GOOD news to basketball fans who up to now are still trying to find ways to go to the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan for the opening of the PBAs 40th season. Columbian Autocar Corporation president Ginia Roxas-Domingo bared that their company has already agreed to provide free shuttle service to and from Bulacan to Manila-based fans who want to watch the opening rites as well as the accompanying double-header at the Philippine Arena on October 19. “We offered kasi to shuttle 10,000 of our fans. We will announce separately. But we have already tapped 200 buses to shuttle about 10,000 fans,” said Domingo, drawing applause from fellow PBA board of governors during the press launch of the 40th season at the EDSA Shang-rila. Domingo bared that they are now in coordination with the PBA as to where the pick-up and drop-off points for the fans will be designated. “Sa ngayon nag-uusap pa kami ng PBA, so depende siguro kung ilan yung maco-confirm na kailangang buses,” she said. Meanwhile, a source from Kia told Spin.ph that the company is now coordinating with Jam Liner Bus line regarding this project. “Nagfa-final meeting na this afternoon ang Kia at ang Jam Lines tapos agad nilang isa-submit sa PBA yung mapapagkasunduan,” said the source. PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial, who was all praises for the initiative of new member Kia Motors, said the league will announce soon where the fans can avail of the free rides to the Philippine Arena during game days. “Hindi pa namin napa finalize pero agad naming ilalabas yun. Sa October 19 pa naman yung opening siguro in the next few days, ma-a-announce na namin,” said Marcial. Meanwhile, Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez has offered to provide free toll to the buses that will carry fans to the world’s biggest domed arena, which is located along NLEX. “OK na kami. Sagot na namin yan. For the fans and for the PBA,” said Fernandez, who raised his hand shortly after Domingo announced the free bus ride. Commissioner Chito Salud meanwhile feels happy at how the different teams in the league are reaching out to the fans, which has been the lifeblood of the league for the past 40 years. “Tulong-tulong tayo. PBA natin ito,” said Salud.
