GOODNIGHT TO AN OFFICER AND A GENTLEMAN We just lost my uncle Major General S.K.Omojokun a few hours ago this Christmas afternoon. A complete gentleman of integrity and an epitome of uprightness, he touched many lives while serving Nigeria in various capacities as Director of the NYSC, Ambassador to Cuba, Minister for Labour and Productivity, etc etc. He will most fondly be remembered as my amiable and gentle Uncle. He was one of the closest people to my father and we were just like one single happy family. I grew up in awe and respect of this great man and never ceased to marvel at how nothing seemed to faze him and how he seemed to remain so calm and unflappable regardless of what was going on around him. He was a patriotic and great son of Ilara Mokin, our own little geographical corner of the world. Ilara has lost a gem today, one of the last of that Golden Generation of Mokin sons whose lights shone brighter than the noonday sun. Rest on Daddy, till we meet to part no more.
