GOOOD MORNING!!! I have been working out here at sugarland MMA since February of this year. When I started the fitness class I didn’t like waking up to be there at 6 in the morning, I was winded at half a minute into the exercises, and felt like I was gonna die after each class and wondered why a 42 year old guy would keep doing this to himself. But with a great coach and motivating people in each class I was inspired to keep coming back and keep working through the SORE muscles. As time went on, the soreness went away. My Stamina increased greatly. I started wearing clothes I hadn’t dared to wear in years…I kept pushing through…I kept getting out of bed…I kept coming to class….I KEPT GETTING BETTER! So...I went out of town this week. No big deal right? I go out of town all the time….Every time I go out of town Daniel(our morning coach) says DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN 3 DAYS OFF FROM WORKING OUT!!! I took his word and didn’t skip more than 3 days….UNTIL this week, and I came in to work out this morning and found out why WE DON’T TAKE OFF MORE THAN 3 DAYS FROM WORKING OUT! It wasn’t as bad as starting completely over but it was hard getting back into the groove….I didn’t want to get out of bed…I was breathing harder and taking more breaks at each station but I still pushed through because I noticed that my worst day now is way better than my first day was back then! I know that when I’m getting out of bed in the morning to sweat most of the city is lying in bed…And when I think about why a 42 year old man does this to himself it is because persistence can change failure into extraordinary achievement. There is a 3 day weekend coming up. DON’T use it as an excuse to slack off for 3 days! DO SOMETHING!!! Julius Erving said “If you don’t do what’s best for your body, you’re the one that comes up on the short end.” I think that a man that is too busy to take care of his health is like a mechanic too busy to take care of his tools! TAKE CARE OF YOUR TOOLS!
