GOR MAHIA BECOMES THE FIRST KPL CLUB TO SIGN AN AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL Australian winger Ian Niva Rubasha led a late influx of four signings by Gor Mahia, just hours to the closure of the mid-season Kenyan Premier League transfer window on Monday. The 20-year-old Niva, the grandson of AFC Leopards legend Jonathan Niva, penned a six-month deal that will be open to renewal after impressing coach Bobby Williamson during a week long trial with the first team. Niva is now set to become the first Australian national to play in the Kenyan Premier League. “It is a pity I am not joining AFC Leopards, but I am seeking exposure in the Kenya Premier League and with that should come a direct route to greener pastures in Europe or Asia,” the former Sydenaham Park FC right sided forward, whose ambition is to represent Australia at the Fifa World Cup, said.
