☼ GOSPEL OF THE DAY ☼ YEAR - DAY 24/08 ☼ Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. - Matthew 16.13-20 ◙ Jesus went to the region of Caesarea Philippi and there asked his disciples: ◙ Who do people say the Son of Man? They replied, Some say John the Baptist; others, Elijah; still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets. ◙ And you, returned Jesus, But whom say ye that I am? Simon Peter answered, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. ◙ then Jesus said: Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you who, but my Father who is in heaven. ◙ Therefore, I say unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church, and the forces of Hell will not overcome it. ◙ I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. ◙ then advised his disciples to tell no one that he was the Christ ☼ READING prayerful ☼ INITIAL PRAYER ○ I prepare for the Reading, renewing my faith, with all that this virtual space, seek the Word: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. I think, my God, I am before you. Who see me and listens to my prayers. Thou art so great and so holy: I adore you. You gave me everything: I thank you. You were so offended by me: I beg your pardon with all my heart. Thou art so merciful: I ask you all thanks that you know to be necessary for me. Jesus Master, Truth, Way and Life, have mercy on us. ○ 1 READING (TRUTH) Appear in this narrative related to Peter two symbols: the keys and the stone. Turns out the mission of Peter, being recognized as gatekeeper of heaven - I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and which allow on earth will be permitted in heaven . Jesus says to Simon: You are Peter. The Master wants to build a temple or a new community in which Peter is the fundamental stone. Even so, the apostle continues thinking like a human being thinks and not as God thinks. That is, we need to grow in faith ended to profess. ○ 2 MEDITATION (PATH) What it says to me today? I live my faith? Wheres the gateway to the Kingdom of God? Said the bishops in Aparecida: Faith in Jesus as the Son of the Father is the gateway for Life. Pray spontaneously in psalms and other prayers and conclude with an act of faith: Master path between the Father and us, I offer you all of you and hope. Jesus, the way of holiness, make me your faithful follower. Jesus way, make me perfect as your Father which is in heaven. Jesus life live in me, that I may live in you. Jesus life, do not let me be separated from you. Life Jesus, make me live forever in the joy of your love. Jesus truth, may I be light for the world. Jesus way, may I be your authentic witness before people. Jesus life and make my presence infuses everyone with your love and your joy. ○ 4 CONTEMPLATION (LIFE AND MISSION) What my new look from the Word? My new look will be renewed at every moment by faith in Jesus Christ. ○ BLESSING The Lord bless and keep you! The Lord show you his face shiny and have mercy on you!
