Shinran Shonin taught that the Buddhas compassion extended to all; and that by reciting Nembutsu with faith in Amida, one may be reborn into the Pure Land (enlightened) - regardless of rank or class, gender, whether monk or layperson, literate or illiterate. All that is required is faith in the saving power of Amidas Vow to save all beings. We celebrate his birthday with palms together in appreciation and gratitude. Namu Amida Butsu !
