GOV. ESPINO RALLIES PNP RETIREES Lingayen – “We have been taught a lot of things about integrity, love of country, justice and especially, professionalism. I want you to go back with these.” This was the challenge aired by Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. when he rallied hundreds of police retirees of the province during the induction ceremonies of the new set of officers of Pangasinan PNP Retirees Association, Inc. (PPRAI) held at the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office, here, on December 14. “You have spent the best years of your life serving the country, the province and the areas where you were assigned before,” the Governor said. Governor Espino, who vowed to support the endeavors of the police retirees association, urged PPRAI President, Ret. PSSupt. Mariano “Sonny” Verzosa,Jr. and the rest of PPRAI officers and members to uphold “fair, just and good service.” Verzosa, who also served as OIC Police Provincial Director, succeeded Ret. PSSupt. Geronimo Recide, outgoing PPRAI President. Verzosa said some municipal and city chapters of PPRAI have been activated, stressing that under his leadership, similar chapters will be organized in all towns and cities of Pangasinan PPRAI -- founded on June 28, 2008 with Ret. Col. Romeo Aquino as Charter President -- bats for the promotion of the general welfare of the police retirees, ensuring the protection of their constitutional rights and privileges as retired law enforcers. It was learned that there are 300 active members of PPRAI. There are still close to 3,000 police retirees who have yet to be integrated into the organization. Simultaneous with the induction rites, Governor Espino, Cong. Leopoldo Bataoil and Vice Governor Jose Ferdinand Calimlim, Jr. led the inauguration of the Multi-Purpose Retirees’ building where police retirees will conduct various activities to promote the association’s vision and mission. Former Philippine Army Commanding General, Lt. Gen. Raul Urgello and OIC Police Provincial Director Reynaldo Biay also graced the occasion. The construction of the building was funded through the General Appropriations Act of 2015 under a measure sponsored by Cong. Bataoil with the support from the provincial government. “We brought this camp in prominence. In my three years of stay here as Police Director, this camp was adjudged as the ‘cleanest camp’ in the country for three years,” Governor Espino told the retirees as he added that the camp was also “two-time best-performing Police Provincial Office awardee.” The Governor was also awarded as best PNP Regional Director with his command bagging the citation as ‘best command’ for two times during his service in the PNP. This feat was duplicated by Cong. Bataoil when he also served as PNP Regional Director. Considering the number of retirees, survivors and transferees – which is more than the present strength of active personnel in service in PNP Pangasinan, the association has vast amount to human resource that could be tapped for various socio-economic development programs of the government and non-government sectors. The other PPRAI officers are: Alejandro Valerio, Jr., Executive Vice President; Vice Presidents (for first to sixth districts) Nolesio Sison, Roberto Manuel, Leonardo Tamondong, Jovencio Batalla, Felimon Benasa and Bernabe Cacanata; Anita Aquino, Secretary; Felimon Benas, Asst. Secretary; Alberto Vinluan, Treasurer, Romulo Dimaranan, Asst. Treasurer; Aurora Fermin, Auditor; Hilario Toledo, PRO; Rodolfo Tadeo, Bus. Manager; Sgt. at Arms, Rosito Camazo and Alexander Angelito. The Christmas party of the PNP retirees followed after the induction of PPRAI officers and inauguration of the Retirees’ building. /MGNO
