GOVERNMENT FORCES CASHGATE SUSPECTS TO ENTER NEW STATEMENTS FOR THEIR FREEDOM Some Cashgate suspects have been forced to enter fresh statements by the countrys intelligence body, National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) as close to ten executive of Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are mentioned or linked in the old statements. An inside source within the NIB says Intelligence Chief, Nicholas Dausi, and Director of Counter Intelligence, Emmanuel Kambale, are under pressure from party officials to ensure that things are ironed out before key stakeholders notice the hidden threads. Dausi is said to have advised his top management to ensure that those that have their statements linking DPP officials should enter fresh statements where the party names will be omitted deliberately. Some of the statements for fresh entries are those of Stamford Mpoola, Slin Kumwenda, Rex Sagawa and the Katengeza sisters among others. Government is planning to let these accused persons go free after they agree to change their statements. The deliberate manipulation of Cashgate cases will throw spanners in the DPP government as it is likely to lose the trust of donors, religious bodies. civil society organizations and Malawians.
