GOVERNOR AMAECHI SHOULD APOLOGISE TO THE RIVERS STATE TRADITIONAL - TopicsExpress

GOVERNOR AMAECHI SHOULD APOLOGISE TO THE RIVERS STATE TRADITIONAL COUNCIL. I know how the Northerners, especially, the Northern Muslims, how they respect and adore (or, should I say) almost worship their Emirs. Whether you agree or disagree, this has helped the North to be Politically and Spiritually united in a way. Often times, political rifts are even settled at the Emirs palace unlike the Niger Delta Kings and Royal Majestys who hardly gets respect, accolades, honour and love by their subjects, worst hit is Rivers State. (Emphasis mine), please. Mind you, respect is respect anywhere, albeit, respect they say is reciprocal. My over five to six years sojourn in the North, and my involvement in Students activism (ALUTA). I saw how Governors pay obeisance, accolades, respect and above all, how they sometimes consult with the traditional rulers before some salient decisions are reached in their Government Houses. In the North, hardly would you find a traditional ruler or an Emir, struggle to see or beg to meet a Governor of a State or, of his own State no matter how uneducated or poor their positions may be. The traditional stools are respected by the Governors, Ambassadors, Senators etc. But, reverse is almost or always the case with my people down South, especially, in Rivers State. I think in the South-South, the Oba of Benin stands out though. In Rivers State, one can foreshow vaguely how the future generation will ill-treat the traditional rulers given the way things are going and even how some Governors outrightly show disrespect to our Kings and Queens and how theyve resorted to making the traditional stools as places for swines and all sorts of unspeakable things. This adumbration is a fact and true. To be fair, Governor Amaechis disrespect for the traditional institution and the royal fathers in Rivers State is unacceptable. If my mind is not playing tricks on me, I can vividly remember how hed subtly and even openly insulted the Amayanabo of the Kalabari Kingdom before. Later, his verbal diarrhoea pushed him to the Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom. As if those were not enough, very recently, hed been seen again taking swipes at the Amayanabo of Abonnema unguidedly and continually. Yet, the Kalabari people in his cabinet have not called him to order. Wait a minute, should we fold our arms and watch Amaechi degrade our traditional core values with his status as Governor before well be civil enough to call him to order? Sometimes I pause to introspect, should I throw my dignity to the bin and be blind to truths because I am showing one stinking loyalty to an unrefined man called MR.Governor because of political gains? Shaking my head. GOD is watching us. The measure you give, that youll receive, the gods cannot be mocked how much more the Almighty FATHER (JEHOVAH). The day of reckoning is near and now. I voted for Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2003 Governorship elections in Lagos. I was in Lagos when the Oba of Lagos (Oba Rilwan) was installed, I can tell the relationship of this same Tinubu and the Oba of Lagos then. There is and was respect and total submission. In 2007, I voted for Gov. Ali Modu Sheriff (aka SAS) as Governor of Borno State. I have visited the Shehu of Borno as a Student leader and I was present also during the installation/coronation of the present Shehu (Shehu Gubio). I saw how Gov.SAS adores these men as well as other Governors. No matter how politically and emotionally aggrieved a Northern Governor could be, which of them (Northern Governors) can insult the Sultan of Sokoto or the Shehu of Borno whether theyre rich, wealthy or poor? Why is ours always different? Why are my Governors always taking the wrong weed? Im truly perturbed and so vexed. Now, I mean today, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is Gov.CRAs mentor, yet it is either Tinubu has failed to tell Gov.CRA how he should treat the traditional rulers or, he told him and Amaechi refused to heed. If not, I did not see Tinubu anytime insulting any of the traditional rulers in Lagos State during his stint as Mr.Governor of Lagos State. Today, former Gov.SAS is Gov.CRAs friend as well, what has he learnt from SAS? Today, Gov.Rabiu Kwankwaso is Gov.CRAs perticeps criminis (I mean, political partner in crime), yet weve not heard where the Emir of Kano was insulted by the Governor even when some Emirs may not like Kwankwasos style, hed never openly insulted them as his very good friend (Gov.CRA) does at will. This list continues with the likes of Governors Aliyu and Sule and even Wamako. The above shows the crass display of a drowning and disrespectful Southern Governor who has lost touch with the tenets of the traditional institution. What has Gov.CRA learned from associating with men who were almost made by the traditional institution like Kwankwaso, SAS, TINUBU, Wamako and SULE? In fact, didnt these traditional rulers help during his re-election? In closing, I must confess, I am not happy with my Governor for always insulting our royal fathers. No matter what, these Royal institutions will outlive any Governor and even the intending Mugabe Governors. I use this medium to call on all well-meaning Rivers Man, Woman and Youth to sign this petition that our Governor, Gov.CRA should apologise to the Amayanabo Of the Kalabari Kingdom, the Amayanabo of Opobo, the Amayanabo of Abonnema, all the Royal Fathers and the entire Rivers State Traditional Council for the insults hed reigned on them since he took over as MR.Governor because of his uncontrollable emotions. Mind you, today its the Kalabari and Opobo kings that has been taken to the cleaners by the Governor, tomorrow it may be your traditional ruler, your father, mother or yourself. Support this course if you want, or waka pass if you no like am. Dont add to my anger, please. Always, Maobuye Nangi Obu The Wondering Wanderer 29/01/2014 MNO writes from the Government betrayed and rejected Krakrama Community.
