GOVERNOR CUOMO ENDORSES LOVELY WARREN FOR MAYOR OF ROCHESTER (November 2, 2013, Rochester, NY--) Today I am announcing that I endorse Lovely Warren for Mayor of Rochester said Governor Andrew Cuomo. Lovely is a proven and inspirational leader who has demonstrated that she has a unique ability to build bridges and bring people together for the betterment of all Rochester. Lovely and I share a common goal -- helping Rochester be the very best that it can be. I look forward to a strong and beneficial working relationship with her and her administration. I encourage voters across Rochester to vote for Lovely Warren, the Democrats choice, next Tuesday.” Lovely Warren has 14 years’ experience in government and currently serves as President of Rochester City Council. She presides over council meetings and committee hearings, makes council committee appointments, and oversees the enactment of the City budget and all City Legislation. She has represented the Northeast District since 2007 and is the former president of the Black Bar Association. She is the co-founder of Operation Transformation, which has recruited 80 volunteer mentors who are currently working with young men ages 18-30 to attain their GED and find access to jobs. Her work in government and in the community has been recognized by City of Rochester Black Heritage Pioneer Award, RBJ’s “Forty Under Forty,” Daily Record’s “Up and Coming Attorneys,” and Democrat & Chronicle’s “Emerging African-American Leaders.” A graduate of John Jay College (B.A. Government) and SUNY Albany School of Law of Union University (Juris Doctorate), she is lead counsel and chief of staff to Assemblyman David Gantt. A Rochester native, Lovely emerged victorious from the Democratic Primary for Mayor of Rochester in September. She is endorsed by elected officials including U.S. Senator Charles Schumer, U.S. Sentor Kirsten Gillibrand, Lieutenant Governor Robert Duffy, Majority Leader Joseph D. Morelle, Assemblyman David Gantt, Mayor Thomas Richards, former Mayor William A. Johnson, Jr. and others as well as groups including Emilys List, Eleanors Legacy, Rochester Business Alliance, the Rochester Building and Construction Trades/Labor Council AFL-CIO, SEIU Locals 1199 and 200, RTMA and others. Lovely and her husband Tim live in Northeast Rochester with their daughter Taylor.
