GOVERNOR KASHIM DETERMINE TO TRANSFORM BORNO STATE. In his quest to transform the state in all sectors, Governor Kashim Shettima has expressed his desire to partner with Pakistani firm. The Governor indicate his desire when Pakistani Trade Delegation led by Nigeria High Commissioner to Republic of Pakistan paid him courtesy visit at the Government House Maiduguri. Areas of interest the Governor stated includes agricultural equipment, pharmaceuticals, sports and Gum Arabic among others, adding that already some agricultural equipment are on the way which will effectively facilitate the sector. He emphasized that gone were the days of traditional farming method as mechanized farming will be given top most priority adding that sprinkler machines for irrigation programme have already commenced in some parts of the state. Governor Kashim informed the delegation that government is also making effort to revive the system of education especially in the science related subjects, adding that government is also willing to partner with them in the area of Education, particularly science teachers and training of Medical Doctors among others. The Governor further stated that efforts are being made by government to create job opportunities to ameliorate and control violence among the youths, stressing that even the current religious problem in the state are caused by joblessness, redundancy and poverty and therefore stated that no effort will be speared in addressing the issue of employment. He commended the delegation for their commitment, patriotism as well as for the interest shown to invests in Borno, adding that Borno shares many things in common with the people of Pakistan and assured them of all the necessary support and cooperation to enable them achieve their objectives. Speaking earlier Nigeria High Commissioner to Pakistani Alhaji Dauda Danladi said following the visit of the Governor to Pakistan last year during which the Governor rob mind with various investors of that country. The 41 delegation he explained represent their companies and have come to express their companies’ readiness to invest in the state, to complement the Governor’s giant stride in his transformation agenda. The High Commissioner also explained that some of the companies manufacture pharmaceuticals, medicals, sports; tractors equipment and Textile materials among others are ready to invest in Borno to create job and generate revenue. Already Alhaji Dauda Danladi also said one of the delegations who expressed satisfaction on the returning of peace in the state has donated 1 Billion Euro Dollar for the establishment of his company in the state. He used the forum to commend the Governor for his giant stride towards the restoration of peace in the state and execution of people oriented projects among others. He then expresses the hope that with the zeal and commitment of the Governor the partnership with these firms will go a long way in enhancing transformation drive of the government. High point of the event was exchange of gifts and group photograph between the Governor and the delegation.
