GPD Nabs Theft Suspects Posted Date: 11/3/2014 On November 2, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Germantown Dollar Tree store manager was assaulted while entering his vehicle after the close of business. A male suspect, later identified as Robert Earl Diltz, prevented the car door being closed, pointed a pistol at the manager and demanded money. The manager honked his car horn, attracting the attention of a Dollar Tree store employee. Diltz fled and entered a silver Chevrolet Impala driven by a female, who was later identified as Fontenelle Hannah Walker. The victim, who sustained moderate injuries, ran into another business and called 911. The Dollar Tree store employee who witnessed the assault, ran toward the intersection of Exeter Road and Poplar Avenue where he approached two Germantown Police officers involved in an unrelated traffic stop. Officers immediately searched the area and located the car occupied by Diltz and Walker traveling west on Poplar Avenue near Germantown Road. Officers initiated a felony traffic stop on Poplar Avenue at West Street, and when the officers exited their vehicles, Walker sped away. Officers pursued the suspects until the car was damaged while traveling too fast over a large dip in the roadway at Poplar Estates Parkway and Corsica Road. Walker was taken into custody near the location where the Impala came to a stop, and Diltz fled on foot. A 45-minute search for Diltz ended in his arrest near Neshoba Trace Cove and Neshoba Road. Both Walker and Diltz were booked into the Germantown Jail. In addition to Germantown Police officers, an officer with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and canine officers with the Memphis Police Department assisted with the search and apprehension of Diltz. GPD is very grateful for their assistance. Walker was charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest, theft of property over $500 and misdemeanor drug possession. Her bond is set at $250,000. Diltz was charged with aggravated robbery, evading arrest, theft of property over $500, unlawful possession of a weapon and misdemeanor drug possession. His bond is set at $500,000. Both are scheduled to appear in Germantown Municipal Court on December 10.
