GPRA Fans..an update from our President, John: Dear Great Pyrenees Friends, 2014 has been an extraordinarily challenging year but we are emerging stronger than ever. We will rescue over 150 Giants this year as opposed to the 178 and 179 we rescued in 2012 and 2013. Last year we rescued three litters of puppies while this year we rescued zero. Thats 30 easy adoptions right there. I am very proud of our group as we dealt with 22 heart worm positive PYRS and many surgeries ranging from leg amputations, torn ACLs, kidney removals, ear ablations, kidney stone removals and eye surgeries. We took most every PYR in need throughout the southeast and repaired, nurtured and loved them until they were ready for their forever family. I cannot say enough about our fosters, dog walkers, donators and our dedicated board. I cannot imagine a better group of passionate people to work with than our GPRA members. We are so well positioned for the future as we have just finalized an agreement with an outstanding vet group with offices geographically located throughout Atlanta, we have a top orthopedic surgeon committed to continue providing us with priority service and we have a longstanding boarding arrangement that works well for our Giants and walkers when we dont have enough available fosters. Thanks to many of you, we are well funded at this juncture so we can take every needed Giant on a moments notice. We have just taken Sunflower who is heart worm positive, Sulu who is heart worm positive with a leg injury and Makiya who was hit by a car in Alabama and has a shattered femur. We are really looking forward to 2015 and would like to build more bench strength in our key areas of intake, foster, medical, adoption and financial so let us know if you would like to become more involved with GPRA. We cant pay anything but I assure you that your experience will be priceless. Have a great holiday.
